Modbury Cricket Club is built on community spirit, good humour, and a healthy affection for the game. Whether you’re a seasoned run-maker, an enthusiastic beginner, or simply someone who enjoys an afternoon of willow on leather in decent company, you’ll be very welcome indeed.

From Sunday matches to summer nets and the occasional social gathering at the pub, there is usually something afoot. Come along, meet the team, and see village cricket at its most civilised — with the usual bursts of chaos.

Weekend cricket for Modbury CC

Sunday 17 May 2026, 2pm start

Modbury CC are on the road this Sunday, making the trip to Cornwood CC for an afternoon of village cricket and, one hopes, the sort of weather that has at least glanced at the forecast before making its arrangements.

Supporters are very welcome to come along and lend their encouragement from the boundary.

Cricket Nets

Every Thursday, 5:30pm, April to September

Join us at Modbury Recreation Ground for our weekly nets. It is an excellent opportunity to dust off the pads, loosen the shoulders, and persuade the ball to do something vaguely useful.

Cricket Teas

No village cricket afternoon is complete without the teas. Cakes, sandwiches, a good cup of tea, and the sort of conversation that improves steadily as the innings unfolds — all part of the bargain, and one of the quieter glories of the game.
